This year has really been a learning experience. This year started off very hopeful then wildfires started then the biggest blow to the sports world and the black community the sudden death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter GiGi. I was in shock for a long time and still in shock as I look at videos from them attending their last basketball game last year.
We all thought things could not get any worse but oh no 2020 simply showed us that we had more devastating times ahead.
Now at first everyone was taking heed to do the things we needed to do and wear masks but as soon as the numbers started coming in that it was hitting the black and brown community harder than most all bets were off. That’s when people really started showing themselves and not wanting to comply with simply wearing a mask. So many videos have been seen throughout this pandemic of people not caring that their ignorance could harm themselves and other people around them.
Even while the pandemic has been happening so many in the black community were being killed by a certain group of people. There are so many to name but the biggest two names to really be in the media was Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. Senseless murders that should have never happened but this is how things go on in the black community from birth until we are deceased. Still no convictions yet in either case or in any of the other cases.
2020 also came with working from home for so many of us and let me just say WOW, the zoom meetings and endless team chats have become tolerable. I’m an introvert so working from home is great just keep the zoom meetings down to a minimum by just sending an email. People have also experienced things on zoom that they shouldn’t have but hey we are all getting used to this new way of life until hopefully 2022.
I won’t say much about politics because quite frankly so many of us are just tired of this game of politicians and their mess not having a clue about how so many people are struggling just to make it. I have been blessed that my husband and I have been able to keep working so our home has not been affected but there are millions out here who need help and $600.00 will just not cut it to help these people to get back on their feet.
This year has also been a year of working on past hurts and not allowing things to have so much control over me mentally. I won’t put the pressure on myself any longer to worry about small things in life because this pandemic has literally shown us life is just too short.
With all of that, I am looking forward to 2021, I was given a second chance in life back in 2017 so I have to keep this mentality up about learning how to let stress go, if I can’t fix it I won’t be sorry about it. I can’t help people if they don’t want to be helped. I can’t help anyone without making sure I am good mentally/physically. Stress will kill you and will take you out.
So be safe, please wear your masks and look forward to all great things coming your way.
Blessings, Hugs and Love!!
